Seismic isolation technology has been developed for several decades from the 1970s. Massive research works on seismic isolation devices, isolation theory and engineering practice were performed by scholars and engineers, and abundant achievements were acquired in this field. Development of bridge isolation technology is briefly summarized in this paper firstly, and several isolation devices for bridge engineering are introduced including some novel isolators developed in recent years. Isolation fundamental theory researches in bridge engineering on near-fault effect, collision effect, experiment technology and new design methods are reviewed in this paper to provide references for next generation research on isolation technology in bridge engineering. At the end, recommendations and discussion are proposed for future research and practice.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
