Abstract-Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is of great importance for R&D of Large 2-Stroke Marine Diesel Engine. The CFD software ANSYS FLUENT was adopted to calculate the scavenging process of a large 2-stroke marine diesel engine MAN B&W S60MC-C6 and the obtained pressure trace was compared with the shop test data. The swirl flow field was analyzed on the achieved satisfactory in-cylinder pressure agreement. This provides a good reference for the application of CFD to the optimization of large 2-stroke marine diesel engine scavenge process.
To overcome difficulties of adding a new model or improving an existing one in the traditional marine engine room simulator, a new simulation system framework is put forward which is based on integration of C/S and P2P modes. A control node is set in the system with the function of joining and quitting control of the simulation nodes. Control information exchange between the control node and simulating nodes is by way of C/S mode, but data exchange among simulating nodes is P2P mode. Communication service components, which are separated from simulating entity, automatically fulfill the communication task. So, simulating entities need not consider the details of communication. A marine engine room simulator is designed and implemented based on the framework. Simulating nodes can easily join or quit the simulator, so adding a new subsystem or upgrading an existing one is easy.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
