Preventive interventions for substance use problems should consider factors related with family relations of the youth.

Drinking problems among university students in Turkey are more prevalent when compared with prevalence rates shown in other surveys in Turkey. Alternative ways of socialization should be provided for the university youth in order to prevent alcohol use problems in the future.

It was found that self-esteem, depression and trait anxiety predict suicide probability. Suicide probability was higher within the sub-sample with a history of a suicidal act in comparison to those without such a history.
