ABSTRACT. Scarab beetles (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) comprise a group of species that are present in almost all agro-ecosystems. The fauna of these insects was studied in Iranian rice fields and surrounding grasslands from 2000 to 2005. A total of 18 species from 14 genera (Aphodius,
The fauna of Iranian Elateridae (Coleoptera: Elateroidea) is summarized in this paper. In total 245 species from 58 genera and 7 subfamilies Agrypninae Candèze (13 genera, 36 species), Cardiophorinae Candèze (4 genera, 55 species), Cebrioninae Latreille (2 genera, 6 species), Dendrometrinae Gistel (13 genera, 28 species), Elaterinae Leach (23 genera, 104 species), Lissominae Laporte (1 genus, 1 species) and Negastriinae Nakane & Kishii (2 genera, 15 species) are listed in literature as the fauna of Iran. Totally 74 species are endemic to Iran.
We provide an annotated checklist of species of bark and ambrosia beetles (Curculionidae: Platypodinae and Scolytinae) recorded from Iran, with information on distribution, host trees, biology and taxonomy. Two species of Platypodinae and 79 species of Scolytinae are recorded. Hypothenemus crudiae (Panzer, 1791), Scolytus koenigi Schevyrew, 1890 and Xyleborus monographus Fabricius, 1792 are recorded for the first time from Iran. Previous records of three further species are considered dubious and require confirmation.
Seven families of Pentatomoidea including Acanthosomatidae, Dinidoridae, Pentatomidae, Plataspididae, Scutelleridae, Thaumastellidae, and Thyreocoridae are discussed in this catalog. The Iranian fauna of Pentatomoidea (excl. Cydnidae) is represented by 99 genera and 271 species and subspecies. Elasmostethus interstinctus (Linnaeus, 1758) (Acanthosomatidae) and Derula flavoguttata Mulsant & Rey, 1856 (Pentatomidae) are new records for Iran.
In the present study, the Iranian Microgastrinae (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) fauna is summarized. It is based on a detailed study of all available published data and new material collected. In total 99 species belonging to 8 genera are from Iran: Apanteles Förster, 1862 (36 species), Cotesia Cameron, 1891 (34 species), Deuterixys Mason, 1981 (1 species), Diolcogaster Ashmead, 1900 (4 species), Microgaster Latreille, 1804 (4 species), Microplitis Förster, 1862 (11 species), Pholesetor Mason, 1981 (4 species) and Protapanteles Ashmead, 1898 (5 species) in 4 tribes (Apantilini, Cotesiini, Microgastrini and Microplitini). A faunistic list with distribution data, and host records are given. Four species are new records for the fauna of Iran: Apanteles brunnistigma Abdinbekova, 1969, A. ingenuoides Papp, 1971, Microplitis decipiens Prell, 1925 and M. marshallii Kokujev, 1898.
This paper deals with the fauna of Scarabaeoidea (Coleoptera) in Golestan province, Northern Iran. In total 19 species from 16 genera (Adoretus, Aphodius, Amphimallon, Cetonischema, Copris, Eulasia, Euonthophagus, Glaphyrus, Netocia, Onthophagus, Oxythyrea, Pentodon, Valgus, Polyphylla, Stalagmosoma, Trichius) were collected and recorded from this region. A checklist of Iranian Scarabaeoidea is provided.
