Qualified learning materials is needed in the efforts to improve the quality of teaching-learning mathematics. Qualified learning materials can be obtained through development research. Learning materials in this study were learning materials that were developed based on guided discovery learning model. The learning materials was also developed by integrating local culture into a guided learning model. The local culture in this study was adapted to the local culture of the students, namely the Batak Toba. Learning materials in this study were developed using the development model of Thiagarajan et al. (1974). The result of second trial showed that learning materials based guided discovery learning with Batak Toba context improved students' mathematical problem solving ability and self-efficacy significantly. Based on the results of the study, it was suggested that mathematics teachers make an effort qualified learning materials and integrate local culture in mathematics learning.
The aims of this research was to find the effectiveness of learning devices based on realistic mathematics education, as well as improving mathematic spatial ability and motivation of SMP Negeri 2 Pulo Bandring students' grade IX. This research is a development research using the Dick & Carey development model. The results of the analysis of the data obtained indicate that learning materials based on realistic mathematics education met the criteria of effectiveness, it was found that students completed classically ≥ 85% of students got a minimum score of ≥75, achievement of learning objectives, positive students responses and learning time equal to ordinary learning. Based on the results of the study, it was suggested that mathematics teachers make an effort mathematica learning using learning devices based on realistic mathematics education.
The intention of the present study was to see the improvement of students' mathematical connections skills. Improving mathematical connections capabilities by developing Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) based learning tools. This research is a research development (research and development), the results of this product are the lesson plan, student activity sheet, the teachers' book guidance, and students' book. The development of learning device based on realistic approach developed by using 4-D development model from Thiagarajan. The result of this research shows: learning device which is developed is valid, both in the validity of the content and validity of construction, there is an increase in mathematical connection ability of students using the device developed learning, and learning tools developed meet the effective criteria, viewed from: a) mathematical connection ability of students fulfilled, b) ideal time of student activity fulfilled, c) achievement of teacher manage class fulfilled and d) student positive response.
Problem solving ability is an ability that sudent have to achieve after learning mathematics. This ability can be trained through using appropriate problems on student worksheets. The purpose of this study was to produce effective worksheet based on PISA and be able to improve students' problem solving abilities. The type of research is the research development that use Dick & Carey models. The trials in this study were carried out in the X IA 3 and X IA 5 classes of Brigjend Katamso I Medan. From the results of trial I and trial II obtained: (1) Worksheet based on PISA that was developed effectively, in terms of: a) classical learning completeness of students that is 89,74%; b) learning objectives for each item is more than 75%; c) 91,79% of students give positive responses; and d) learning time is the same as regular learning time; and (2) there is an increase in the average problem solving ability of students in the first tryout of 0,3 with a low category and in the second trial of 0,4 in the medium category.
Mathematical literacy is students' ability to analyze, reason, and convey ideas effectively, formulate, solve, and interpret mathematical problems in various forms and situations. The purpose of this study was to analyze the improvement of students' mathematical literacy skills after getting learning using realistic approach-based learning tools and to find effective learning tools based on realistic approaches. This research was conducted on seventh grade junior high school students. The development model used is the 4-D (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate) model of Thiagarajan, Semmel and Semmel. The results of this study are improving students' mathematical literacy skills and finding effective learning tools.
