Unlike extensivelys tudied diradicals linked by pconjugated systems, only af ew studies have investigated weakly coupled diradicals linked by an sp 3 carbon atom. Herein, we prepared pyrrolidin-1-oxyl-(nitronyl nitroxide)dyad 5 and pyrrolidin-1-oxyl-iminonitroxide-dyad 6.F rom the observed temperature dependence of the magnetic sus-ceptibility, 5 and 6 were determined to be in singlet ground states with 2J intra /k B = À35.2 Ka nd À13.6 K, respectively. From these resultsa nd theoretical calculations of related diradicals,t he spin-polarization model countingt he small spin density of the sp 3 carbon atom could be used as as pin-predictionm odel.Supporting information and the ORCID identification number(s) for the author(s) of this article can be found under: https://doi.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
