Chick embryos were inoculated with influenza-A virus over the blastoderm at 42-50 hours incubation (37°C). Surviving embryos were harvested 24 hours later. Grossly and microscopically, the developing brain exhibits a type of abnormality in which the neural wall is highly convoluted with folds projecting into the ventricular cavities, suggesting "overgrowth" of the neural tissue.
