Geht man von der Annahme einer Kippung aus, indem man sieh nicht einfach mit der Vorstellung grSl~erer, sieh schr~g einstellender Fl~iehen begnfigt, so wird ftir die Beurteilung des Ausma~es derartiger Geosynklinalen und Geantiklinalen vie] gewonnen, wenn man versueht, die bewegten Teilfl~chen um eine oder mehrere Achsen zu gruppieren, unterhalb deren der Ablagerungsbereich --gleichgiiltig, ob rein matin, kontinental oder gemischt --beginnt, w~ihrend im aufsteigenden Hebelarm die Kippungsachse die Grenze des Abtragungsbereiehs, also der Geantiklinale, darstellt. Denn sie maeht im Verein mit dem Wettkampf zwischen Senkung und Aufschiittung die Annahme sog. ,,Oscillationen" iiberflfissig und gestattet, je nach ihrer Lage bzw. dem Wechsel derselben an den Flanken der Geosynklinale deren Wachsen und Sehwinden bei durehweg zentripetaler Tendenz der Becken zu erkli~ren.Beachtet man dann dabei weiter, dal~ im allgemeinen von dieser Achse aus mit waehsender Entfernung sich die negative und positive Wirkung (also Abtragung und Ablagerung) verst~rkt, insofern die am Scheitel der Geantiklinale abgetragenen Schuttmassen mehr und mehr dem Senkentiefsten zustreben --freilich nur innerhalb yon Kontinent und Schelf --, w~hrend im Bereich der Kippungsaehse Abtragung und Ablagerung verschwinden, so wird yon Geologlsche Rundschau.
