Auf Grund der analytischen Konstitutionsermittlung muß dem Bilirnbin folgende Konstitutionsfonnel zukommen:Die Reihenfolge der Substituenten entspricht der des Hämins und an der «-Methingruppe ist dieses hydrolytisch oxydativ gespalten worden, wobei gleichzeitig an der y-Methingruppe und dem benachbarten Pyrrolkern eine Hydrierung zu verzeichnen ist. Diese Feststellungen sind weiter erhärtet durch die Synthese des Glaukobilins und Mesobilirubins durch W. Siedel 2 ).Für die Synthese des Bilirubins waren ähnliche Schwierigkeiten vorhanden wie beim Hämin, nämlich der Erzeugung der Vinylgruppen, und es lag nahe, diese Schwierigkeiten auf demselben Wege zu überbrücken, wie wir das seinerzeit beim Hämin getan hatten. Dort hatten wir in Deuterohämin 2 Acetylreste eingeführt und diese dann über den sekundären Alkohol und Wasserabspaltung zu Vinylgruppen und damit das Diacetyldeuterohämin in Protoporphyrin abgewandelt 3 ).
Reaktionen des 3.4-Dimethyl-A3 -pyrrolons-(2) *) (I), insbesondere die zum 2-~thoxy-3.4-dimethyl-pyrrol, werden beschrieben. Die Struktur der sich von I ableitenden ,,Dihydroxy"-dipyrromethen-Derivate wird anhand von IR-, UVund NMR-Spektren diskutiert.Nachdem wir die 1956 gefundene Synthese in 3-und 4-Stellung substituierter A3-Pyrrolone-(2) 1) vom Typ I in letzter Zeit erheblich verbessern und vereinfachen konnten 2), haben wir diese Verbindungsklasse eingehender bearbeitet.

In diese Verbindungen sol1 spater eine weitere Doppelbindung eingefilhrt und die Ketogruppc zum Alkohol reduziert werden.Vor einigen Jahren wurde gezeigt, daO man durch Addition von Mcthylvinylketon an Methylacetessigester mit nachfolgender Cyclisierung das Keton I gewinnen kannl).
