Owing to their use in fluorescent lamps and many display applications, luminescent materials affect our daily life. Improvement of already very mature as well as development of new materials demanded by a variety of new applications are the focus of research today. The latest advances in the field of electroluminescence enable new displays and light generation concepts that challenge the classical areas of application of luminescent materials.
The search of an ideal host for the formation and detection of trapped electrons in organic single crystals has lead us to a large family of clathrate hydrates containing peralkylammonium hydroxide guests. The presence of trapped electrons has been detected by pulse radiolysis at room temperature in a large number of the clathrates.1-2 Two compounds were chosen for this initial study of electron stabilization: tetramethylammonium hydroxide pentahydrate,
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
