SUMMARY:The adsorption of polyethyleneglycols and polyvinylpyrrolidon from solutions of water and methanol was investigated in situ at different temperatures within a wide rang0 e f concentrations by means of an ellipsometer. The measured adsorption-time-curves an& isotherms, the thickness and the density are discussed in dependence of the experimental parameters and so developed ideas about the mechanism of adsorption and the structure of the adsorbed layer. A t low solution concentrations the adsorption occurred in layers of high concentration and small thickness. With increasing solution concentrations the molecule lying flat in the beginning is going to be erected, so that the adsorption layer becomes thicker and less concentrated.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
