Der im Titel aufgegriffene Begriff Fap ist ein lautmalerischer Ausdruck für Masturbation. Typischerweise ist er mit dem Geräusch männlicher Selbstbefriedigung assoziiert. Der weniger gängige Begriff schlick bezeichnet das weibliche Pendant. Beide Ausdrücke sind Meme, die etwa seit dem Jahr 2008 im Internet verbreitet werden (vgl. Tomberry, 2016). und beispielsweise häufige Verwendung in sogenannten Rage-Comics finden -einer Art Internetcomics, die unter anderem satirische Geschichten über die masturbierenden Charaktere Fap Guy und/oder Schlick Girl erzählen. Rage-Comics werden zumeist auf Internetplattformen wie 9GAG, 4chan oder reddit publiziert, auf denen von den Nutzer_innen 1 vornehmlich humoristische und satirische Bilder, Videos und Animationen hochgeladen, kommentiert, geteilt und bewertet werden können. Zur Verdeutlichung, welche Relevanz 9GAG hat: Auf Facebook hat die Online-Plattform rund 31 Millionen Fans (Facebook, 2016) und liegt im Ranking der meist besuchten Websites in Deutschland auf Platz 78 2 . Dementsprechend bekannt sind die Inhalte der Gag-Seite. So erstaunt es nicht, dass fappieren im Jahr 2014 in der engeren Auswahl zum Jugendwort 2014 des Münchner Langenscheidt-Verlags war. Das Unternehmen ruft seit einigen Jahren Jugendliche dazu auf, im 10 Zugleich setzen Vibratoren und Dildos bei näherer Überlegung aber auch die Notwendigkeit einer Penetration zentral und könnten aus diesem Grund auch als Instrumente patriarchaler Unterdrückung interpretiert werden.
