The selection of learning media is one of the important factors that influence the success of the learning process. The selection and use of appropriate and interesting media will have a positive impact on student learning success. However, the use of learning media that integrate gamification elements is still not widely practiced in Arabic language learning in Malaysia. Therefore, this study aims to identify students' perceptions on the use of gamification in Arabic language learning by using Gamilab media as a learning application. The study design used was a quantitative study. This study involved 149 respondents who took Arabic as a third language course at UiTM Shah Alam. Questionnaire instruments were used for data collection purposes. The collected data were analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Science version 26.0 to obtain descriptive data. The findings show that students' perceptions of the use of gamification in learning Arabic are at a high level with a mean value = 4.31. Thus, this study is expected to help Arabic language educators to improve the quality of Arabic language teaching by diversifying the use of the medium in Arabic language teaching.
In tandem with the development of technology, the use of multimedia in language learning is one of the best alternatives to make Arabic language learning more productive, effective and communicative. The use of multimedia applications has the potential to help students improve their mastery of the Arabic language, especially listening and speaking skills. However, teaching and learning Arabic language at UiTM are mainly focusing on the conventional methods where lecturers are utilizing textbook as the primary teaching resource. Some educators refuse to take advantage of technology in teaching because of the lack of multimedia learning materials and resources. Furthermore, the multimedia-based teaching materials that are currently available are not designed based on an appropriate instructional design approach which makes these educational materials irrelevant to the real needs of students. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to identify the problems and the needs of third language Arabic students at UiTM towards the development of an integrated exercise module for basic Arabic language through mobile learning application. This study is a survey based on a quantitative approach that uses a set of questionnaires as a research instrument. This questionnaire was distributed to 79 students out of 280 students who took Arabic as a third language at UiTM Shah Alam. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze this quantitative data. The findings revealed that most students agreed that learning Arabic in UiTM is only focused on the use of Arabic textbooks and the exercises provided in the books are not enough for them to master what they had learned. As a result, the students expressed the necessity of utilizing the additional multimedia learning materials in the classroom, not only to improve their Arabic language proficiency but also to perform well in tests and assignments.
The rapid development in this country has opened many opportunities for secondary school leavers to pursue their study at a higher level. The selection process of place and course of study has also become more challenging as higher learning intuitions offer variety of quality and competitive programs. The study is quantitative in nature which focussed on the questionnaire instrument. The core objective of this study is to identify the pull factors among the students in selecting first degree study program in Islamic studies field in the Faculty of Islamic Civilization Studies as well as analysing the students‟ perception after the enrolling in the studies. The study involved 145 students of the Faculty of Islamic Civilization Studies, Kolej Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Selangor (KUIS). The study findings showed the main pulling factor among the students in selecting Islamic studies field was because the study program offers the integration between the worldly knowledge and the hereafter. Meanwhile the study findings regarding the medium of information about the study program in the Faculty of Islamic Civilization Studies was through friends followed by school councillors and internet source. Next, the perception of the students of the Faculty of Islamic Civilization Studies showed they believe in the KUIS credibility in producing excellent and quality graduates. All in all, the findings analysis showed one of the factors that influenced students in selecting study program in Islamic studies field in the Faculty of Islamic Civilization Studies, KUIS was the program quality meet the needs for knowledge, faith and practice appreciation. Abstrak Perkembangan pendidikan yang pesat di negara ini telah membuka banyak peluang kepada pelajar lepasan menengah untuk menyambung pengajian ke peringkat yang lebih tinggi. Proses membuat pemilihan tempat dan kursus juga menjadi semakin sukar kerana institusi pengajian tinggi menawarkan pelbagai pilihan program berkualiti dan berdaya saing. Kajian ini berbentuk kajian kuantitatif iaitu, memfokuskan kepada instrumen soal selidik. Tujuan utama kajian ini adalah untuk mengenal pasti faktor tarikan pelajar memilih program pengajian di peringkat sarjana muda dalam bidang pengajian Islam di Fakulti Pengajian Peradaban Islam serta menganalisis persepsi pelajar selepas mengikuti pengajian. Kajian ini melibatkan 145 pelajar Fakulti Pengajian Peradaban Islam, Kolej Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Selangor (KUIS). Dapatan kajian menunjukkan faktor utama tarikan pemilihan pelajar dalam bidang pengajian Islam adalah kerana program pengajian yang ditawarkan mempunyai kesepaduan ilmu dunia dan akhirat. Manakala hasil kajian terhadap penggunaan medium maklumat program pengajian di Fakulti Pengajian Peradaban Islam adalah melalui rakan diikuti kaunselor sekolah, dan sumber internet. Seterusnya, persepsi pelajar Fakulti Pengajian Peradaban Islam menunjukkan mereka mempunyai keboleh percayaan terhadap reputasi KUIS dalam melahirkan graduan yang cemerlang dan berkualiti. Secara keseluruhannya, analisis dapatan menunjukkan kualiti program yang menepati keperluan penghayatan ilmu, iman, dan amal adalah antara faktor yang mempengaruhi pemilihan pelajar ke program pengajian dalam bidang pengajian Islam di Fakulti Pengajian Peradaban Islam, KUIS.
Bahasa Arab tidak asing lagi di negara Malaysia, ia adalah salah satu bahasa yang dipelajari oleh pelajar di peringkat sekolah mahupun diperingkat pengajian tinggi. Namun begitu, sejauh manakah pelajar dapat mengaplikasikan bahasa Arab dalam penulisan apabila telah masuk ke alam university. Maka dalam kajian ini, pengkaji akan mengkaji satu sudut Morfologi daripada hasil penulisan karangan bahasa Arab pelajar semester 2 di KUIS. Sebanyak 66 teks yang ditulis dalam perenggan pendek. Morfologi adalah kajian, pengenalpastian, analisis dan penerangan tentang unit makna yang membentuk satu perkataan. Kajian terhadap asas-asas pembentukan suatu kata dengan mengenalpasti susunan perkataan secara berstruktur dan bagaimana perkataan tersebut bercantum sehingga mewujudkan struktur kata yang membawa maksud tertentu. Jenis kesalahan di dalam kajian ini terbahagi kepada tiga iaitu kesalahan membina kalimah yang sesuai, kesalahan penggunaan kata kerja, dan kesalahan lain yang berkaitan morfologi.
