Os óleos minerais são constituídos de moléculas orgânicas que apresentam um processo de degradação termo-oxidativa complexo. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a cinética de degradação térmica dos óleos naftênicos NH10, NH20 e NH140, por meio de termogravimetria, e analisar a lubricidade dos óleos NH20 e NH140, por meio de um sistema mecânico com engrenagens (teste de bancada). Os parâmetros energia de ativação e resistência térmica foram determinados com as metodologias descritas nas normas ASTM E1641−16 e ASTM E1877–17. Os resultados indicaram a maior estabilidade térmica para o NH10, o que pode ser confirmado pela resistência térmica (220,93 °C) e pela energia de ativação (92,974 kJ mol-1), cujos valores são superiores aos dos óleos NH20 (187,06 °C, 42,856 kJ mol-1) e NH140 (133,53 °C, 45,282 kJ mol-1). Nos ensaios de lubricidade do NH20 (base para lubrificantes) e NH140 (base para graxas), analisaram-se os parâmetros valor de root mean square (RMS), fator de crista e fator K. Os resultados quanto ao fator K mostram que o valor obtido para o sistema de engrenagens sem lubrificação (187,75) foi maior do que o obtido para o sistema lubrificado com NH20 (185,16) e NH140 (28,88), e esses valores são consistentes com ensaios de desempenho de lubrificantes.
