This research aimed to reveal; (1) what method was applied by lecturers in teaching speaking; (2) how was the method applied in the classroom; and (3) how was the students' perception toward the implementation of the method. This research employed qualitative research. The respondent of the current research were two non-native English lecturers who taught at the University of Iqra Buru in Ambon, Maluku. To collect the data, three kinds of the instrument were used; observation, interview and documents examination. The data were analyzed using Miles & Huberman technique who proposed three concurrent flows of action: a) data reduction; b) data display; and c) conclusion drawing/verification. The researchers found that; 1) The most of the method used in teaching speaking were grammar translation method, task-based, and lexical approach; 2) The implementing method in teaching speaking at the university consisted of material presentation and classroom discussion; 3) The students have bad perception toward the implementation of lecturers' method and learning activities in teaching speaking.
The abilities of students can affect learning outcomes. One capability that is closely related to learning outcomes is the ability to think logically which improves students’ understanding of knowledge. This study aims to determine cognitive learning outcomes and logical thinking ability of students in science subjects through the guided inquiry learning model. The quasi-experimental research was conducted with a non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The population was all students of seventh grade of Miftahul Ishlah Islamic Junior high School in Mataram-Lombok.The sample was determined by cluster random sampling technique. The subjective test and the rubric of logical thinking ability were instruments used. Data were analyzed using SPSS MANCOVA, which preceded the prerequisite test, ie test for normality and homogeneity. The results showed that the guided inquiry learning model had a significant effect on the student's cognitive learning outcomes and logical thinking ability with p = 0.000, and its’ corrected mean score of learning outcomes was 95%, and corrected mean score of logical thinking ability was 71%, higher than that of student in the conventional learning model.
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah; (1) Untuk mengetahui sejarah Tradisi Jati Suara dalam acara khitanan di Desa Darmasari Kecamatan Sikur Kabupaten Lombok Timur; (2) Untuk mengetahui proses pelaksanaan Tradisi Jati Suara dalam acara khitanan di Desa Darmasari Kecamatan Sikur Kabupaten Lombok Timur; dan (3) Untuk mengetahui dampak tradisi Jati Suara terhadap kehidupan sosial dan ekonomi masyarakat di Desa Darmasari Kecamatan Sikur Kabupaten Lombok Timur. Adapun metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode sejarah. Metode sejarah dalam pengertian yang lebih umum adalah penelitian suatu atas masalah dengan mengaplikasikan jalan pemecahannya dari perspektif historis. Peneliti menggunakan metode sejarah, karena dalam penelitian ini mengkaji eksistensi tradisi Jati Suara dalam Acara Khitanan di Desa Darmasari Kecamatan Sikur Kabupaten Lombok Timur. Metode sejarah merupakan cara atau teknik dalam merekonstruksi peristiwa masa lampau melalui empat tahapan kerja, yaitu heuristik, kritik sumber, interpretasi, dan historiografi.
