Objective: To investigate the weariness among undergraduate students at Mosul city's universities related to internet addiction. Methodology: This descriptive cross-sectional study included 600 students from universities in Mosul city. The study was carried out from 22nd of April 2022 until 25th of May 2022. The tool of study involved the internet addiction test with (20) questions. SPSS version 26 was used to analyze the data. Results: Majority of students were in the age group 20-24 years. The average hours of internet use were between 5-8. We found that 48.7% students had mild internet addiction and 68.2% had fatigue. Conclusion: Moderate levels of internet addiction and fatigue were found. A strong link between internet addiction and exhaustion were observed.
Background and objectives: Nursing is a health care profession, which is focused on the care of individuals, families, and communities; so that they can attain, maintain, or recover optimum health. Nurses care for individuals of all ages and cultural who are healthy or ill in a holistic manner based on the individual's needs. The aim of the study was to assess the nurses' perception about the nursing profession in Al-Jamhory Teaching Hospital. Material and methods: A cross-sectional is design has been adapted at Al-Jamhory teaching hospital in Mosul city for period from 10 th November 2012 till 25 th March, 2013, a simple random sample selecting of (180) nurse. The questionnaire validity was determined by presenting the items to a panel of experts' tutors of nursing college. The test and re-test approach used to determine the reliability of the questionnaire (r = 0.80), the statistical analysis organized by (SPSS, Version 16). Results: the analysis of data revealed that (40%) of nurses' haven't good perception towards their profession, and (54%) of nurses are intended to leave the profession because low salary their percentage was (72%). The personal factors represented the highest percentage (32%) among the factors affecting nurses' perception for their profession. The study founded the significant relationship between perception nursing professions and intends to leave profession. Conclusion: The present study shows some of the nurses in Al-Jamhory teaching hospital have a poor perception towards nursing profession, and the nurses had an intention to leave their profession because low salary.
Background: Burns is one of the most serious injuries to mankind, considering the difficulty of treating a burn injury.Aims of the study: this study aimed to assess nurses' knowledge and practices regarding aseptic technique applied to burn patients at Teaching Hospitals in Mosul City.Methodology: Descriptive design selected for the assessment of nurses' knowledge and practices regarding aseptic technique applied to burn patients. The period of this study was in the 1\ June \ 2020 to 15 \ January \ 2021. A purposive sample for this study choice (60) nurses who agree to participate in the study. The tool was constructed, and it is composed of the three-part represents the demographic variables, assess the knowledge of nurses, and practices to an applied aseptic technique in managing patients with burns. The answer to the questions in part two is symbolized as (0) for the incorrect answer and (1) for the correct answer. While practices items were: (3) always, (2) for some time, and (1) for never. Performed descriptive statistics and inferential statistical methods were by SPSS (Version 25) by using the data significant at P. value ≤ 0.05.Results: The results represented a higher percentage of age group (26-30) years was 41.7%, the majority of gender was 51.7% males in the study. Most certificates were secondary school nursing. The years of experience between (1-5 years), the nurses have inadequate knowledge and practiced aseptic technique for managing burn patients.Conclusion: The majorities of nurses have insufficient knowledge and used aseptic technique at an inadequate level in practice. The study discovered a significant relationship between nurses' knowledge and practices with their age.Recommendations: To reduce mortality and morbidity, burn patients must be managed using aseptic technique, which necessitates training and adequate facilities
Background: The health systems are not producing the desired output due to some factors such as insufficient skilled and experienced health personnel that lack motivation, lack of management skills, poor working and environment, and inadequate remuneration. Aims of the study: The aim of study is to assess factors affecting of nursing work performance, and identify the relationship between some socio demographic characteristics of nurses, and the factors affecting of nursing work performance at Al-Hamdaniya general hospital in Mosul City. Methodology: A study conducted by using a descriptive design to collect sample from nurses in Al-Hamdaniya general hospital. The study started from the 1st of November 2018 to the 10th of April 2019. The systematic random sample was (75) nurses. The validity of the questionnaire was established through a panel of (8) experts. The internal consistency for questionnaire was (r = 0.72). Results: The study results show factors affecting of nursing work performance which include the increasing of workload were (49.3%), lack of communication between the nurse and the patient was (65.3%), effort and emotional fatigue (54.7%), the noise in the workplace (54.7%), and not give incentives and rewards (74.7%). Conclusion: The study finding the most factors that affected of nurses' work such as workload and noise in the workplace, also, there relationship association between that the factors affecting of nurses and the socio-demographic characteristics. While shows no significant relationship between the factors affecting the working of nurses with age and tenure years. Recommendations: The factor which causes the dissatisfaction among nurses with the working which advantage the hospital to helping nurses for continue their services. The manager uses new strategies at Al-Hamdaniya general hospital in Mosul City which leads to improving the nurses' performance circumstances
Background: Nurses' role is warned to view blood transfusion responsibilities, and able to identify the nursing required to care for patients receiving a blood transfusion so that they can develop their skills. The aimed of the study to assess nurses' knowledge level procedure of blood transfusion. Materials and method: A descriptive study approach was carried out at Al-Salam teaching hospital in Mosul city. A random sample consists of (130) nurses, the questionnaire was used for data collection, it include two parts. Part one was demographic data, and Part two including (16) questions for nurses' knowledge of blood transfusion. Content validity was determined by presenting the items to a panel of (10) experts, and used the Coefficient Correlation for questionnaire items showed that the reliability of the questionnaire which was (r = 0.90). Results:The study finding that there average of true answers (64%), while (36%) false answers of nurses' knowledge of blood transfusion procedure for the patient. Also the present study indicates (65%) of nurses have good knowledge and (35%) of nurses has poor knowledge about procedure of blood transfusion. Conclusions: The present study showed that a third of nurses' have poor knowledge of blood transfusion, and finding a significant relationship between the nurses knowledge and level of education, also a significant relationship between the nurses' knowledge and course trainings.
