The crystal structure of the title compound, 2,2‐dimethyl‐1,3‐propanediammonium chromate, (C5H16N2)[CrO4], consists of layers built up from CrO42− tetrahedra alternating with diprotonated 2,2‐dimethylpropylendiamine molecules. N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds ensure the cohesion and stability of the structure.

The title compound, [NH3(CH2)4NH3]2+·CrO42−, is a new chromate associated with the diprotonated 1,4‐butane­di­amine mol­ecule. The structure can be described as a succession of inorganic and organic layers parallel to the (010) plane. The structural cohesion is established by a three‐dimensional network of N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

In the organic cation of the title salt, the cyclo­hexane ring is in chair conformation with the two methyl­ammonium substituents in the equatorial positions. The crystal structure features extensive hydrogen-bonding inter­actions.
