Bu araştırmada okuma motivasyonu ilgili Türkiye’de yayımlanan makaleler ve lisansüstü tezlerin eğilimlerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Nitel araştırma desenine göre yapılandırılan çalışma, içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma kapsamında Yükseköğretim Ulusal Tez Merkezi internet adresi, Türkiye'de yayımlanan SSCI, ULAKBİM ve diğer veri tabanları tarafından dizinlenen dergiler taranmıştır. İlkokul, ortaokul ve lise öğrencilerinin örneklem olarak alındığı 65 makale ve lisansüstü tez incelenmiştir. Çalışmalar, Okuma Motivasyonu Araştırma Kodlama Formu (OMAKF) ile incelenerek elde edilen veriler SPSS programıyla analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular betimsel istatistik yöntemlerinden frekans ve yüzde kullanılarak tablolaştırılmıştır. Formda yer alan 11 başlığa göre yapılan araştırmada en çok çalışma türünün yüksek lisans tezinde olduğu (%44,62); en çok araştırmanın 2019 yılında yapıldığı (%23,08); konuyla ilgili en çok araştırmanın Gazi Üniversitesi bünyesinde yapıldığı (%14,71) tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca konu olarak en çok okuma motivasyonunun okuma unsurları ve çeşitli değişkenlerle ilişki düzeyi, öğretim yöntem/tekniklerin okuma motivasyonuna etkisinin araştırıldığı; araştırmaların %78,46 oranla en çok nicel desenlerle yapıldığı; örneklem olarak ilkokul öğrencilerinin daha fazla tercih edildiği (%55,38); veri toplama araçlarından en çok ölçeklerin tercih edildiği (%63,71); nicel veri analizlerin %90,7 oranla yoğun kullanıldığı araştırmanın diğer sonuçlarıdır. Araştırmalarda en sık tekrar eden sonuç "Kız öğrencilerin okuma motivasyonlarının erkek öğrencilerin okuma motivasyonlarından daha yüksektir." sonucu olmuştur. Ebeveyn eğitim düzeyi, sınıf düzeyi, okul öncesi eğitim, evde kitaplık olması, kitap okuma sıklığı ve okuma motivasyonu arasındaki ilişkiyi inceleyen araştırmalarda birbiriyle çelişen sonuçlara ulaşıldığı tespit edilmiştir.
