Background: Newborns in the neonatal intensive care units (NICU) can be exposed to many painful procedures and treatments. Aim: This study was to improve nurses' practice regarding non-pharmacological management of pain in newborns in neonatal intensive care units. Subjects and Method: A quasi-experimental research design was utilized in this study. The subjects of the study consists of all the nurses working in the NICUs in Port Said hospitals (N=40) affiliated to the Ministry of Health, including El-Nasr general hospital, Port Said general hospital, Port Fouad general hospital and El-Tadamon health insurance hospital. The data were collected using a observational checklists Conclusion: the nurses had statistically significant improvements in applying non-pharmacological pain management during painful procedures in newborns included; venous and arterial puncture, cannulation and umbilical catheter insertion. However, there were inadequate total scores regarding nurses' practice. Recommendation: continuous training courses should be provided to nurses in order to keep their practice regarding nonpharmacological pain management up to date. Also, nurses should be encouraged to attend national and international conferences and workshops about non-pharmacological management for newborns

Background:The most often recommended medications for kids are antibiotics, although sadly many of them have the potential to cause diarrhoea that is connected with antibiotic use. An AAD is a most pediatric problem in both inpatient as well as outpatient settings. Probiotics are substances found in some meals and supplements that may help cure AAD. Because of this, the aim of present research is to: evaluate the effect of probiotic yogurt to traditional yogurt on the treatment of AAD in young patients receiving antibiotics. Design: A quasi experimental research design. Setting: The research was carried out at Minia University Hospital for Obstetrics and Paediatrics (MUHOP) and Misr El-Hora General Hospital which are associated with the Ministry of Health and Population in the paediatric medical ward and PICU. Sample: A purposeful sample of 150 children was randomly assigned to one of three groups (probiotic yogurt, traditional yogurt, and control). Two tools were used: a structured interview questionnaire and an AAD record. Results: The current research found that more than fifty percent of the study and control groups were males, with a mean age of two years. Furthermore, the probiotic yogurt group had the lowest mean frequency and duration of AAD, as well as the lowest percentage of AAD degree, preceded by the traditional yogurt group, and lastly the control group. Conclusion: Probiotic yogurt was useful in the treatment of AAD. Recommendations: Parents and nurses were educated about the necessity and effectiveness of probiotic yogurt and food in the management of AAD.
Background: Currently, the COVID-19 is considered one of the most severe health problems in the world. One of the most important chronic diseases common among children that need treatment for a long time is epilepsy, whose provision of appropriate medical treatment at the time of Corona has become one of the most considerable difficulties facing society during the pandemic outbreak. The aim is to assess the health practices of the mothers regarding caring for their children with epilepsy during the COVID-19 outbreak. The design: A descriptive design was utilized to perform the study. The Setting: The present study has performed the outpatient at the Psychological hospital, and Al-Naser Specialized Hospital for children in Port Said city, Egypt. Sample: A convenient sample of 80 mothers had epileptic children. Tools: Three tools were used to collect data, the first characteristics of mothers & children and the seizure severity scale. The second mother reported a practices checklist about caring for their epileptic children, and the third Change management of children's epilepsy during the COVID-19 outbreaks restrictions questionnaire. Results: revealed that about 57.5% of epileptic children have a moderate degree of epilepsy according to the epileptic scale, which also demonstrates that 55.0% of mothers had fair practice about epilepsy. In comparison, 41.2% of mothers had poor practice, and only 3.8% of mothers had a good practice. Conclusion: Negative change management child epilepsy during COVID-19 outbreaks restrictions pandemic. Perceived increases in seizures, reluctance to go to hospital and changes in routine care (sleepphysical activity) are likely to impact epilepsy management, and most mothers have fair practice about epilepsy. Recommendation: Further implementation of efficient telemedicine programs to epilepsy care and postpone routine follow-up to improve the care of children with epilepsy during the pandemic. Improve practices of mothers and epileptic children through visual aids, posters via phone or e-mail, clear language booklets, and group health education in hospital outpatient clinics.
