We aimed to evaluate some of the vascular biomarkers in newly diagnosed, colchicine naive familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) patients. Our primary aim was to investigate the effect of regular colchicine treatment on these variables. Twenty-four (12 males [M] and 12 females [F], 33.3 ± 13.4 years) newly diagnosed FMF patients were included in the study. These patients were started on colchicine treatment following the initial assessment and were studied again no earlier than 2 months. Five patients were lost to follow-up, and assessment of the on-treatment patients was performed on the remaining 19 patients (8 M and 11 F, 33.6 ± 11.8 years). There were 19 healthy subjects (11 M and 8 F, 32.2 ± 7.2 years) who served as a control group. Cellular adhesion molecules (CAMs; soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 [sICAM-1] and soluble CD146 [sCD146]), plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1), fetuin-A and hs-CRP were studied. Examinations were performed on attack-free periods. The levels of hs-CRP, fetuin-A, sICAM-1, and PAI-1 were significantly higher in newly diagnosed patients compared to those of controls (P < 0.05). All studied parameters were significantly downregulated after regular colchicine therapy (P < 0.05). Comparison of on-treatment data with controls showed that the levels of the vascular biomarkers, except sCD146, were similar between the groups (P > 0.05). On-treatment sCD146 was found significantly lower than the controls (P < 0.05). In regression analysis, none of the independent variables in the model significantly predicted the vascular biomarkers (P > 0.05). Administration of therapeutic doses of colchicine markedly reduces vascular injury parameters and normalizes the values in FMF.

Therefore, this study provides a fuzzy DEMATEL (Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory) method to assess most common critical operational faults in marine boilers. The DEMATEL method gives chances to identify and analyses the important faults of marine boiler with respect to cause effect relationship diagram. Likewise, fuzzy sets get through with the uncertainty in decision making and experts comments on DEMATEL. When the results are examined, it is understood that "boiler takes excessive time to reach pressure" is important in terms of the reasons. When the effects are examined, it is seen that the most important effect is "leakage from pipes or valves". Roll stabilizer systems are studied for different types of ships by many researchers. It is well known that roll motion is caused by external disturbances (wave,wind etc) and large roll motion can cause capsizing easily. In addition, undesirable roll motion effect badly crew performance and passenger comfort. So, roll reduction has an important role for all types of ships. In our study, we proposed a fuzzy AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) and ELECTRE (Elemination and Choice Translating Reality English) method for selecting the most effective roll stabilizing system for a trawler type fishing vessel. Alternatives and criteria in relation to the stabilizers are determined by experts' experiences and literature review. This paper intends to give a comprehensive procedure for determining the most suitable roll motion stabilizing system of trawler for safety and efficiency fishing in the open literature.
Gas turbines are usually the core elements of numerous mechanical systems. Subsequent to the advancement of high efficiency and clean energy, gas turbine has a significantly growing role in different areas, such as aviation and marine propulsion systems, electric power stations, and natural gas and petroleum transportation. However, gas turbines are decisive in operating many industrial plants, and their accompanying maintenance costs are likely to be exceedingly high. A number of failures in the gas turbine components have been detailed and discussed in this paper, with a view to thwarting future breakdowns by suggesting specification for notable maintenance and utilisation of gas turbine components. This study puts forward Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) methods applied in failure detection of gas turbine components. This paper attempts to handle gas turbine components, which contain hydraulic-pneumatic equipment, electronic control equipment, and bearing equipment. Thanks to the assessment of specialists, heavily influenced by failures, gas turbine components have been decided. The results have proved the bearing equipment to have been the most effective alternative, as being ensued by hydraulic-pneumatic equipment and electronic control equipment.
