<p><strong>Objetivo:</strong> relatar a experiência de acadêmicos de enfermagem no processo de padronização dos primeiros cuidados de enfermagem para vítimas de picadas de animais peçonhentos. <strong>Método:</strong> trata-se de um relato de experiência, realizado entre os meses de março a maio de 2017 no setor de emergência de um Hospital no interior do estado do Rio Grande do Sul, durante um Estágio Supervisionado vinculado a um Curso de Graduação em Enfermagem. O estudo aborda três tipos de acidentes com animais peçonhentos: ofidismo, aracnídeos (aranhas e escorpiões) e lonomia (popular taturana). <strong>Resultados:</strong> com vistas a melhorar o atendimento emergencial das vítimas de animais peçonhentos, faz-se necessário a aplicação de um protocolo de cuidados de enfermagem que padronize os primeiros cuidados na área hospitalar. <strong>Considerações finais:</strong> o estabelecimento de um protocolo de atendimento para vítimas de animais peçonhentos é essencial para a eficácia no primeiro atendimento, o que gera a necessidade de ser criada tal padronização bem como maiores estudos acerca do tema.</p>
