Digital Human Resource Management (HRM) is a digital transformation of HR practices and processes through the use of electronic media, mobile, analytics and information technology (IT) to make HRM more efficient. In other words, digital HRM is basically doing or managing all the human resource work using soft technologies, applications and internet. Digitization or digital transformation is something that all the organizations have to bring in order to be efficient and relevance in future. Otherwise they will lag behind other organizations in the market industry. This study reviews of several studies and discuss about the concept and various aspects of the digital HRM. This study mainly relied on secondary data only. The findings would be important for organization in assisting them to implement digital HRM effectively and thus improve their performance. In addition, the findings would be able to help researchers by providing the basis to understand the impact of digital HR on organizational performance.
Addressing the problem of lecturer turnover in Malaysia, this study investigated the motivations behind the intention of employees to stay in private higher education institutions (PHEIs) in Malaysia, with a focus on the relationship between the perceived practices of human resource management (HRM) and the intention to remain at Malaysia’s PHEIs. Based on the social exchange theory (SET), this article proposed that the perceived HRM practices at those institutions are uniquely positioned to support employee intention to stay, particularly with the intervention of organizational citizenship behaviour (OCB). Data from 323 lecturers working at PHEIs in Malaysia confirm this model. Based on the analysis, this study revealed that recruitment and selection; training and development; and rewards and recognition all had a meaningful relationship with the intention to stay. In contrast, notably, performance appraisal did not have any significant relationship with the intention to stay.
This paper focused on the unemployment of persons with disability (PWDs) and the contribution of social entrepreneurship that would help to reduce the social problem in Malaysia. This paper briefly reviews the main reasons of unemployment among PWDs and how to overcome the problems. One of the best ways to get PWDs involved in the working environment through the opportunity created by social entrepreneurship. This study also discusses on two theories; Psychodynamic Theory and Stakeholder Theory which explain about the PWDs and social entrepreneurship. The challenges face among PWDs has impacts on a wide range of socioeconomic outcomes, including labour market
participation and economy. The main problem for PWDs is the difficulty in finding a job. This study reviews of several studies and discuss about the concept and various aspects of the PWDs and social entrepreneur. This study mainly relied on secondary data only. Therefore, this paper highlighted four main reasons of unemployment among PWD such as the prejudice from communities, the lack of employment opportunities, the internal factors of PWDs, and lack of education. In addition, this paper also recommends that these problems could be solved by the involvement of social entrepreneurship as a job creator; provide opportunities for PWDs to work with them. In addition, this review paper contributes to the knowledge on employment among PWDs and would assist increase their participation in the workforce.
Since the end of 2019, the occurrence of unexplained viral pneumonia has been reported in Wuhan. Higher education institutions (HEIs) in Malaysia have decided to shift learning practices towards online learning systems to ensure the teaching and learning activities continue as usual. Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) established online classes, through live broadcast using Webex and to build a three-foot "cloud" podium for other network teaching styles. Therefore, this paper proposed a new model of a technology-driven e-flipped classroom for students’ engagement during and post COVID-19 pandemic. Data was from 230 student of Strategic Management class, Universiti Utara Malaysia in the semester 1 2020/2021. Based on the analysis, this study found that Edmodo as an online learning platform and flipped classroom approach enhance student’s engagement through online activities carried out on their self-paced learning styles.
