New current-source type base drive schemes are proposed using high frequency converters with zero voltage switching. Using these drives, the performance of a switching bipolar power transistor is enhanced: the transistor can be lightly saturated in accordance with the load condition because its base current can easily be controlled. The proposed circuits are very small and the efficiencies are higher than for conventional circuits. These base drive schemes are also easily extendable to drive multiple power transistors.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
