In der im letzten Hefte dieses Archivs ersehienenen Arbeit ,,tiber die Ausseheidung des Quecksitbers vet und nach Queeksilberkuren" hat Herr Dr. Schuster die Ergebnisse unserer Quecksilberuntersuchungen, we]che wir in der Schrift ,,fiber den Einfiuss des Quecksilbers etc.., l),, niedergelegt hatten, theilweise angezweifelt, theilweise als irrthfimlich bezeichnet. Er grtiudet seine Zweifel einerseits auf die Unverl~sslichkeit einer der angewandten Methoden, anderersei~s auf yon ihm selbst erreichte Resultaf~e. Was die Unverl~ssliehkeit der 5![ethode betrifft, so ghuben wir nach der Erwiderung, welche dem Autor yon seiteu I)rof. Ludwig's zu Theft geworden ist, kein Wor~ mehr dartiber ver-]ieren zu mtissen. Wir h•tten uns auch gewiss mi~ dieser realen, aussehliesslieh die Ausftihrung der Methode betreffenden Riehtigstelhng begntigt, wenn der Autor nich~ auch in anderer Beziehung Anlass zu ernstliehen Recriminationen gegeben hatte. Er kritisirt namlich die A~'beit und beurtheilt deren Resultute, ohne die erste such nur gelesen zu haben. Dass dieser Vorwurf Herrn Dr. Schuster mit Recht h'ifft, geht schon darius hervor, class der Aut(~r p. 52 sagt, ,vo~l beiden Autoren Yajda and Paschkis wurde die Ludwig'sehe Nethode nnd demnach Zinkstaub zur Amatgamirung des zu suchenden Quecksitbers benfitz~", wahrend wir p. 93 unserer Sehrift ausdrticklich nnd wiederhol~ betonen, dass die ersteren 93 Palle nach der Sehneider'schen resp. nuch der yon Ludwig modifieirten Schneider'sehen Methode untersueht wurden. Da nun diese letztere Methode auf der Yerwendung des elektrischen Stromes, nieht abet des Zinkstaubes, zur Ausseheidung des ~) Usher den Einfluss des Quecksilbers anf den Syphilisprocess v. Dr. L. v.
