Als Ergebnis der kurz geschilderten Orientierungsversuche mit unter verschiedenen Frequenzen, besonders im Ultraschallgebiet schwingenden Kathoden konnte festgestellt werden, dass solche Schwingungen zu teilweise erheblichen Verfestigungen und Verbesserungen der Oberflächenschichten der abgeschiedenen Metalle, zur Erhöhung der Härte, Zerreissfestigkeit und auch der Stromausbeute beitragen. Eine systematische Fortführung und Erweiterung solcher Versuche ist zweifellos von erheblicher theoretischer und praktischer Bedeutung. Die eingangs geschilderten not wendigen Untersuchungen des sog. Kathodenfilmes können durch solche Methoden sicherlich bedeutungsvoll gefördert werden. Die Beeinflussung und Verschiebung der Polarisationsverhältnisse von Metall‐ und Wasserstoffabscheidung, die wenigstens teilweise Verhinderung des Ausfallens und kathodischen Einbaues von oxydischen und basischen Einschlüssen spielen hier eine wichtige Rolle. Technisch können die geschilderten Effekte bei der Metallabscheidung vorläufig nur in den wenigen Fällen ausgewertet werden, wo eine besondere Güteverbesserung des kathodisch abgeschiedenen Metalles die aufgewendeten Kosten lohnt. Eine erfolgreiche wirtschaftliche technische Anwendung wird jedoch allgemein dann möglich sein, wenn Ultraschallsender magnetostriktiver Art mit grösseren abstrahlenden Flächen (wie sie inzwischen schon in der Entwicklung begriffen sind) und auch Magnetschwinger niedriger Frequenz mit hoher Energieabgabe und geringen Dämpfungsverlusten zur Verfügung stehen. Im niederfrequenteren Ultraschallgebiet wird eine intensive Elektrolytbewegung an der Kathode nach den modernen Methoden der Ultraschallpfeife1), welche wegen des Wegfalls der elektrischen Anregung sehr wirtschaftlich arbeitet, interessante Forschungs‐ und Entwicklungsarbeiten ermöglichen können.
