Gegenstand und Ziel: Das intervertebrale Vakuumphänomen (VP) des Hundes stellt eine Gasansammlung im Zwischenwirbelspalt dar, die durch Vaporisation der gelösten Gase der extrazellulären Flüssigkeit in Fissuren degenerativer Bandscheiben und sekundär aufgrund eines plötzlichen Druckabfalls (z. B. bei einer Bandscheibenherniation) auftreten kann.Vakuumphänomene lassen sich mithilfe von Röntgen, Computertomographie (CT) und Magnetresonanztomographie detektieren. Das Auftreten eines intervertebralen VP wird allgemein als Zeichen für eine Bandscheibenherniation angesehen. Ziel dieser Studie war, Häufigkeit und Lokalisation eines VP im Zwischenwirbelspalt bei Hunden zu ermitteln und herauszufinden, ob eine Korrelation zwischen intervertebralem VP und einem durch klinische Symptomatik und Bildgebung definierten operationswürdigen Bandscheibenvorfall besteht. Material und Methoden: Überprüft wurden CT-Aufnahmen der Wirbelsäule von Hunden, die zwischen Januar 2007 bis einschließlich Juni 2012 in der Klinik vorgestellt worden waren (n = 693). Von diesen erfüllten 529 das Einschlusskriterium einer CT-Darstellung der Wirbelsäule vom ersten Thorakalbis zum ersten Sakralwirbel im Weichteilund Knochenfenster. Bei der Auswertung erfolgte ein Interobserver-Vergleich zwischen einem erfahrenen und einem unerfahrenen Untersucher. Ergebnisse: 5,7% bzw. 6,8% der Hunde mit einem durchschnittlichen Alter von 7,7 ± 2,9 Jahren bzw. 7,3 ± 3,1 Jahren (unterschiedliche Ergebnisse aufgrund des Interobserver-Vergleichs) wiesen ein intervertebrales VP auf. Rüden waren häufiger betroffen als Hündinnen. 66,7% bzw. 63,9% der Hunde wurden an der Wirbelsäule operiert, wobei die Lokalisation der Operation in 55,0% bzw. 65,2% der Fälle mit der Lokalisation des intervertebralen VP übereinstimmte. Schlussfolgerung und klinische Relevanz: Intervertebrale VP können auf eine Bandscheibendegeneration oder -herniation hinweisen, sollten allerdings nicht als eindeutiges Kriterium gewertet werden. Die Lokalisation für eine Operation sollte anhand der klinischen Symptomatik sowie CTund/ oder MRT-Befunden, wie beispielsweise sichtbare Bandscheibenherniation und Verlegung des Wirbelkanals, festgelegt werden. Bei der Detektion eines VP ist die Erfahrung des Untersuchers nicht entscheidend.
Der Ultraschall stellt heutzutage das bildgebende Verfahren bei Erkrankungen der Harnblase bei Hund und Katze dar. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Untersuchungsverfahren k?nnen sonografisch Blasenwand und Inhalt ausgezeichnet beurteilt werden. Da die Harnblase beim Hund in der Regel intraabdominal vor dem Becken und bei der Katze noch weiter kranial liegt, ist sie der Sonografie von transabdominal ideal zug?nglich.
