Für die Verbindungen (C6H5)4Sn, (C6H5)3SnY (Y = F, Cl, Br, J, OH) und (C6H5)3SnOSn‐(C6H5)3 werden die IR‐ und RAMAN‐Spektren mitgeteilt, und die Frequenzen zugeordnet. Die inneren Schwingungen der Phenylkerne sind weitgehend lagekonstant und lassen sich abtrennen. Die Spektren werden kurz bindungstheoretisch diskutiert. Triphenylzinnchlorid assoziiert im Gegensatz zum Trimethylzinnchlorid nicht über Sn‐Cl‐Sn‐Brücken. Für die X‐Cl‐Bindung in R3XCl (R = CH3, C6H5; X = Si, Sn) werden angenäherte Kraftkonstanten angegeben. Sie schließen für die Sn‐Cl‐Bindung p‐d‐Doppelbindungsanteile weitgehend aus. Die IR‐Spektren eignen sich, um eindeutig zwischen Triphenylzinnhydroxid und Hexaphenyldistannoxan zu unterscheiden.
Von (CH3)3SnF, (C2H5)3SnF, (n‐C3H7)3SnF, (n‐C4H9)3SnF und (C6H5)3SnF wurden IR‐, im festen (33–4000 cm−1) und im dampfförmigen Zustand RAMAN‐, MÖSSBAUER‐ und Massen‐Spektren gemessen. Die Frequenzen der Schwingungs‐spektren wurden weitgehend zugeordnet. Mit Hilfe dieser Methoden wurden die Eigenschaften der Triorganylzinnfluoride, die beträchtlich von denen der anderen Organylzinnhalogenide abweichen, untersucht. Die Unterschiede beruhen in allen Fällen auf starken inter‐molekularen Wechselwirkungen.
