A change in proportions of non-shrinkable and shrinkable acrylic fibres, affects the pilling properties of knitted fabrics. As the number of ICI tester rotations increased from 20,000 to 44,000, there was an increase in the number of small, medium and large pills that were produced. Because of their higher initial modulus, more non-shrinkable fibres are more likely to be damaged by friction, which seems to play a greater role in creating pills on the fabric surface.1.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
