L’article exploite la théorie du changement social de Guy Rocher et les approches de la political ecology pour traduire le lien entre la culture du palmier à huile, les pressions et concurrences foncières et la déforestation croissante au sein de la Commune. Il s’appuie sur l’état de l’art, les enquêtes de terrain et des traitements cartographiques. L’expansion de la culture du palmier à huile alimente des pressions et des concurrences foncières et la gestion familiale du foncier exacerbe cette situation engendrant parfois des conflits fonciers. La déforestation qui en résulte est à l’origine d’une fragmentation de l’espace, faisant de l’exploitation du palmier à huile un enjeu majeur de durabilité.
