ABSTRACTTaxonomy and zoogeography of the species of the genus Munida Leach, 1820 (Crustacea: Decapoda: Galatheidae) along the warm-temperate coast of the South Western Atlantic. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the taxonomy and zoogeography of the species of the genus Munida which occur along the warm-temperate region of the Southwestern Atlantic. This region is characterized by the presence of different types of water and give rise to important biogeographic barriers. The fauna of this region is heterogeneous, with the typical warm-temperate species, together with tropical and cold-temperate euryterm species. The rate of endemism in that region is relatively low. A key of identification for the ten species of Munida which occur in that region is done. For each species, a synonymic list, diagnosis, geographical distribution and material examined are provided.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
