La integración de sistemas estacionarios y de los vehículos eléctricos como almacenamiento electroquímico en la red eléctrica, traerán consigo una serie de acciones en los sistemas eléctricos de potencia a fin de robustecer la red existente, diversificar las mallas energéticas actuales y lograr una contribución significativa ante los requerimientos energéticos de la región y los problemas asociados debido al cambio climático. El presente artículo expone las principales oportunidades y desafíos de su integración, muestra la evolución y situación actual de la matriz eléctrica de Centroamérica. La región presenta condiciones favorables para permitir una penetración de diversas tecnologías de almacenamiento en combinación con generación de electricidad intermitente lo cual representa una nueva consideración en el análisis. Diversas tecnologías de almacenamiento son expuestas que, a pesar de ser antiguas en su descubrimiento y uso, hoy se presentan como una oportunidad para la producción masiva de energía eléctrica renovable. Por último, se analizarán las formas en que dichas tecnologías pueden interactuar con la red eléctrica como unidades de almacenamiento y carga. Finalmente, se identificarán las principales oportunidades y desafíos de la integración de sistemas de almacenamiento electroquímico en la red eléctrica.
<p class="p1">Uno de los aspectos importantes en la vida útil de un transformador de potencia es la conservación de los aislamientos sólidos y líquidos, que deberán permanecer íntegros ante la presencia de humedad y contaminantes. Con el fin de preservar su integridad, se procura mantener la hermeticidad dentro del transformador. El objetivo principal de esta investigación fue estudiar y analizar el deterioro de los aislamientos sólidos en transformadores de potencia bajo condiciones ambientales no controladas. De esta manera, se busca comprobar, por medio de pruebas de resistencia al aislamiento e índice de polimerización, la existencia de algún tipo de deterioro en los materiales aislantes sólidos que fueron muestreados; así como dar un estimado del grado de deterioro porcentual del aislamientosólido bajo condiciones de temperatura y humedad relativa no controladas. El problema fundamental es el deterioro de las propiedades dieléctricas y mecánicas del papel aislante y otros componentes sólidos en el tiempo. Esto hará que ante un cortocircuito, el papel aislante sea incapaz de soportar y se inicie una falla incipiente o peor aún, una falla permanente. </p>
La función básica de un sistema de potencia es abastecer de energía eléctrica a los clientes de forma económica y eficiente, así como proveer un servicio tan eficaz como sea posible. Sin embargo, existen ciertas restricciones que afectan de manera considerable el cumplimiento de estos objetivos. Algunas de ellas se relacionan directamente con la calidad del abastecimiento, como, por ejemplo, las variaciones en tensión de barras y de la frecuencia industrial. Los diseñadores, planificadores y operadores de los sistemas eléctricos de potencia han tomado en cuenta estos problemas. Muchas de las técnicas desarrolladas tienen el objetivo de atender y resolver el dilema, a pesar de las limitaciones económicas de operación y mantenimiento. Los índices de confiabilidad son una muestra de tales técnicas, diseñadas a través del tiempo con el fin de cuantificar los eventos relacionados tanto con su operación como los estados de mantenimiento y fallas, entre otros, en los diversos periodos del año, debido a la afectación para los clientes y especialmente por las pérdidas económicas que producen. En la siguiente nota técnica se analiza la evolución de los índices de confiabilidad y se explican las diversas técnicas de análisis. Asimismo, se desarrolla un ejemplo aplicado a un sistema de potencia eléctrica.
El Sistema de Interconexión Eléctrica de los Países de América Central (SIEPAC) ha sido un motor de desarrollo para la región y a partir de su constitución los beneficios han sido cuantiosos mostrando avances socioeconómicos de gran importancia para los habitantes de la zona. El presente artículo muestra un modelado del Sistema Eléctrico Regional (SER) para realizar estudios de flujos de potencia usando el software ETAP (Electrical Transient Analyzer Program). Hasta donde tienen conocimiento los autores, solo existe un modelo del sistema regional centroamericano usando PSS/E (Power System Simulator for Engineering). En la presente investigación fueron simulados diversos escenarios, con condiciones de operación para distintas y variadas como son lo invierno y verano tanto en carga como generación en estado máximo, medio y mínimo. Se estudia una red de más de 2150 barras que abarca los países de Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica y Panamá. Comparando los datos obtenidos de flujos de potencia entre ETAP y PSS/E, se obtuvieron resultados satisfactorios pues las variaciones fueron menores al 0.5% de los flujos de potencia entre los países y de esta manera se validaron los resultados de ETAP a las mismas condiciones de análisis. Se concluye que, para fines académicos o de investigación el sistema de potencia de interconexión de Centroamérica, es posible simularlo utilizando la herramienta de ETAP, en sustitución de PSS/E, siendo esta última la utilizada hoy día por los operadores de la red centroamericana.
