The grain size analysis of Quaternary sediments from Lendi river sub-basin in Latur and Nanded districts of Maharashtra has been carried out to study the textural parameters and statistical measures to delineate the depositional environment. Total thirty three samples were collected during the fieldwork. These samples are analysed by British Standard Sieve (BSS) method. Based on grain size analysis; it is found that, different sorting of grains which is the indication of change in environment in geological past. The coarse sediments are deposited first over the country rock above this, sand and silty clay is deposited. The cross bedding and graded bedding structures are also indicating the fluctuation in the climatic condition. The depositional environment of coarse gravel sediment in the bottom beds of Lendi river at Halni, Mukaramabad and Ravangaon indicates that the streams are of relatively high energy with prevalent bed load transport; whereas fine clay and silt at Hanuman Hipperga Gojegaon and other places in the upper layer reflect that streams are of low gradient and with seasonal variation in climate.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
