Dabei wird übersehen, dass Tätowierungen heute ein Kulturphänomen geworden sind, das quer durch alle Gesellschaftsschichten und Bevölkerungsgruppen Adepten gefunden hat. Nimmt man noch die Fans von Body Paints hinzu, dann geht es schon um beachtliche Gruppen. Den Körper zu bemalen, ihn zu schmücken mit Tattoos, Schminke, Schmucknarben, Piercings usw. kennen wir aus allen Kulturen -Kinder lieben das, und die Köperbemalungen, Aufreibe-Tattoos haben immer wieder auf Kinderfesten Hochkonjunktur. Es könnten hier viele Phänomene mit in die Überlegungen einbezogen werden, aber es sei der Fokus auf die Tätowierung gelegt, denn es ist in vielen Kreisen "Mode" geworden, sich ein "Tattoo stechen" zu lassen, ein kleines zumindest -nicht zu auffällig und nicht zu krass oder auch und zunehmend durchaus sichtbar und großflächig. Bei diesen reagieren aber viele Menschen befremdet, besonders wenn sie "Leuten" begegnen, die "heavily tattooed" ihren "Körperschmuck" oder die "Verunstaltung ihres Leibes" -ganz wie es gesehen wird -öffentlich "zur Schau" stellen.
