There is a need to develop similar programmes to improve the leadership skills of Unit Charge Nurses, and to make it mandatory for nurses assigned to positions of Unit Charge Nurse to attend this kind of leadership programme.
Purpose: This descriptive study was conducted to investigate the relationship between problematic smartphone use and the life goals.
Design and Methods:The study was conducted on 310 nursing students. The data were collected with the "Smartphone Addiction Scale'' and "Life Goals Scale."Findings: Increased internal life goals of the students was found to decrease the tendency to be engaged in a virtual relationship while increased external life goals increased the risk of smartphone addiction.
Aim
This trial aimed to evaluate the effects of instrumental reminiscence therapy based on Roy's adaptation model on adaptation, life satisfaction and happiness in older people.
Background
Reminiscence therapy is one of the nursing interventions that facilitates the adaptation of older people to the process of ageing.
Design
The study utilized a pretest–posttest randomized controlled trial design.
Methods
This study was conducted at two nursing homes in Northern Cyprus between April and June 2021. The trial comprised 34 participants. A descriptive information form, the Assessment Scale of Adaptation Difficulty for the Elderly, Life Satisfaction Index A and Oxford Happiness Questionnaire—Short Form were used for data collection.
Results
Mean posttest scores obtained by the intervention group from the Assessment Scale of Adaptation Difficulty for the Elderly, Life Satisfaction Index A and Oxford Happiness Questionnaire—Short Form were significantly higher than their pretest scores (P < 0.05). There was a significant difference between the mean scores obtained by the intervention and control groups from the Assessment Scale of Adaptation Difficulty for the Elderly, Life Satisfaction Index A and Oxford Happiness Questionnaire—Short Form (P < 0.05).
Conclusion
Instrumental reminiscence therapy based on Roy's adaptation model increased the levels of adaptation, life satisfaction and happiness in older people. Therefore, instrumental reminiscence therapy might be applied, integrated with the Roy's adaptation model.
Objective: This study sought to analyse the effectiveness of a nurse-led health development programme for school-aged children in North Cyprus. Design: This study utilised a randomised-controlled experimental research design. Setting: The study was conducted on fourth-grade students in two primary schools. Method: Participants in the intervention group received a 12-week online health education course. Students in both the control ( n = 38) and intervention ( n = 38) groups completed the Food Behaviour Scale, the Children Health Perceptions and Behaviours Scale, and the Physical Activity Self-Efficacy Scale pre-intervention, at the end of intervention and 3 months post-intervention. Results: Post-test scores for the intervention group on the Food Behaviour Scale, Children Health Perceptions and Behaviours Scale, and Physical Activity Self-Efficacy Scale were significantly higher than their pre-test scores. In contrast, the control group exhibited no statistically significant difference between the pre- and post-test scores on the three scales. Conclusion: The findings suggest that a nurse-led health education programme had a positive effect on food behaviour, physical activity self-efficacy, and health perception and behaviours among school-age children.
