ÖzKur'ân-ı Kerim nazil olduğu günden bugüne dek hem muhtevası hem de üslubuyla gerek inananların gerekse inanmayanların dikkatini çekmiştir. Bu dikkat zamanla Kur'ân'ın farklı dillere tercümesini beraberinde getirmiştir. Asırlar boyunca Kur'ân-ı Kerim'in benzerinin getirilmediği ve getirilemeyeceği kendine özgü eşsiz bir üslubu vardır. Bu üslubunun benzersiz olması başka dillere çevirmesini de zorlaştırmaktadır. Fakat Kur'ân hitabının bütün beşere yönelik olmasından dolayı başka dillere çevrilmesine ihtiyaç duyulmuştur. Günümüze dek değişik dillere çevrilmiş Kur'ân tercümelerinin sayısı giderek artmaktadır. Tercüme edilen her bir çeviri Kur'ân-ı doğru anlamaya katkıda bulunmaktadır. Sovyetler Birliği döneminde "Sosyalist İktidar" Kazak bölgesinde çok sayıda din alimini öldürmüş ve Kazakçaya tercüme edilen Kur'ân ile diğer İslam eserleri yok etmişlerdi. Kazak bölgesinde Kazakça Kur'ân tercümesini ilk olarak Halife Altay yapmıştır. Hayatının büyük bir kısmını Kur'ân araştırma çalışmalarına ve tercümesine adayan Halife Altay, bu çalışmalarında Beyzavî, Celâleyn ve Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır tefsir ve meal çalışmaları başta olmak üzere bütün muteber meal ve tefsirlerden yararlanmıştır. Bu çalışma, Kazakistan Cumhuriyeti'nin 1991 yılında Kur'ân-ı Kerim'i Kazakçaya çeviren,dinî ilimler başta olmak üzere dil ve edebiyat sahasında mütehassıs olan Halife Altay Gağıpoğlu'nun "Kuran Kerim Kazakşa Mağına jane Tüsinigi" adlı eserini incelemek için yapılmıştır. Kur'ân-ı Kerim'i Kazakça'ya ilk tercüme eden Halife Altay'ın Kazakça'ya dair yetkin bir donanıma sahip olması, meal çalışmasına da yansımaktadır. Yaptığı meal çalışmasında, iyi derecede dinî ilimlere ve Arap diline hâkim olması kendini göstermektedir. Yine bu çalışmada, Kazak halkından da hatırı sayılır derecede bir okuyucu kitlesine sahip olmaktadır. Çalışmamızda Halife Altay'ın Kazakça Kur'ân Meali yazma serüvenini ve özelliklerini de inceleyeceğiz.
