The interoperability between various standards and the exchange of data amongst different resources constitutes an important issue in Health Care Applications. Standards allow institutes to transmit clinical data and images from the electronic patient folder to different hospital sites, requiring these elements for diagnosis, medical studies and treatment. Medical image examination is a subset of the medical image folder that includes a request, images, prescription, reports of specimen analysis, and other elements. In this paper, we introduce a system called ETICS, which is also designed to automate the investigation of this kind of problems. ETICS provides a service for software projects by integrating well-established procedures, tools and resources in a coherent framework and adapting them to the special needs of distributed software. An implementation of how the ETICS system supports interoperability issues is also described, taking into consideration the standard Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine. Finally, we provide the obtained results achieved by using the ETICS capabilities.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
