El abandono escolar en la Educación de Personas Jóvenes y Adultas (EPJA) es un fenómeno en alza, cuyo considerable aumento se ha convertido en una desafiante problemática para la política pública. La literatura especializada comprende el abandono escolar como un fenómeno multidimensional, el cual requiere Sistemas de Alerta Temprana (SAT) capaces de considerar factores de tipo personal, familiar, social, cultural y material para proteger las trayectorias educativas de los/as estudiantes de manera efectiva. Atendiendo aquello, en el sistema educativo chileno, la incorporación de un componente de acompañamiento temprano al SAT apuesta por un abordaje más integral de las formas de abandono escolar presentes en la EPJA. En este contexto, el presente estudio revela hallazgos acerca de cómo el componente de acompañamiento temprano moviliza y tensiona la comprensión de determinados aspectos pedagógicos y psicosociales propios de la EPJA, que, articulados con el propósito de atender y enfrentar el rezago y fracaso escolar, permiten a los/as docentes visibilizar nudos críticos en el diagnóstico de factores de riesgo, poner en el centro las trayectorias educativas y los aprendizajes, y transitar desde la noción de educación compensatoria de la EPJA hacia una más vinculada con la justicia social y la importancia del aprendizaje a lo largo de la vida.
