Correo electrónico: bercolano@yahoo.com.ar ResumenPunta Entrada, en la boca del estuario del río Santa Cruz (Patagonia, Argentina), sufre un intenso proceso de erosión eólica que está cambiando el paisaje y afectando el patrimonio arqueológico de la localidad. Se buscó establecer la o las causas del inicio de este proceso a través de un enfoque que integra diversas líneas de evidencia: análisis multitemporal de registros teledetectados, datos climáticos del siglo XX y zooarqueológicos, así como información histórica, la evaluación del impacto de la ganadería y del comportamiento de la fauna silvestre. Se concluye que la instalación de la colonia reproductora de pingüinos patagónicos (Spheniscus magellanicus) en la localidad a partir de la década de 1970 fue el principal detonante de la erosión. A partir de ese momento, la excavación de miles de nidos y el pisoteo desencadenaron una secuencia irreversible de pérdida de vegetación y deflación del material arenoso de las dunas que, una vez iniciada, progresó activamente hasta el presente.Palabras clave: zoogeomorfología; Spheniscus magellanicus; erosión eólica; registro arqueológico; costa patagónica. AbstractPunta Entrada, a coastal territory located at the Santa Cruz river mouth (Patagonia, Argentina), is undergoing an intense process of aeolian erosion that is both, changing the landscape and affecting the archaeological heritage deposited there. Se dan a conocer las geoformas crionivales activas que se presentan entre los 1064 y 700 m s.n.m. en la meseta Latorre, ubicada en el extremo sudoccidental de Argentina. Las geoformas fueron reconocidas inicialmente en el terreno y su distribución espacial cartografiada en forma digital una vez identificados sus patrones texturales. Se calcularon la temperatura media mensual del aire y media anual del aire del sector más alto de la meseta, Punta Gruesa, aplicando el cálculo de Gradiente Térmico Vertical a datos meteorológicos de la cercana estación del paraje El Turbio. Círculos de piedras, guirnaldas, lóbulos y terrazas de solifluxión acompañados por humedales de altura (“mallines”) y vegetación de tundra, dominan este ambiente. Se interpretan como “tors” a los relictos de erosión de la Formación Santa Cruz originados, en parte, por criometeorización. Las observaciones realizadas permiten afirmar que la meseta Latorre se encuentra comprendida en un ambiente periglacial, sin permafrost, resultado de un intenso congelamiento estacional.
