Este estudo teve como objetivo analisar o estilo de liderança dos acadêmicos de administração de uma instituição de ensino superior, quanto aos aspectos transacionais e transformacionais. Para tanto, realizou-se uma pesquisa survey, de natureza descritiva e abordagem quantitativa. A amostra foi composta por 104 acadêmicos, graduandos em administração, do 1º ao 8º semestre de uma instituição de ensino superior privada do interior do RS. Para identificar os estilos de liderança, foi elaborado um modelo de questionário adaptado do instrumento “Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire” (MLQ) de Bass e Avolio (1995 apud NORTHOUSE, 2004). A análise dos dados foi realizada com o auxílio dos softwares “Microsoft Excel” versão 2013 e “Statistical Package for Social Sciences” (SPSS) versão 23, por meio da análise fatorial exploratória e estatística descritiva (frequência absoluta e relativa). Os dados revelaram que a maioria dos respondentes possuem características dos dois principais estilos de liderança e se mostraram contrários a ausência de liderança. Diante desses resultados, foi possível traçar um perfil dos acadêmicos ainda no processo de graduação, sendo identificado que eles já apresentam características de liderança e tendem a aplicá-las no meio acadêmico. As contribuições práticas se referem a fornecer aos acadêmicos e futuros gestores insights sobre as práticas de liderança, de modo a promover autoconhecimento acerca de seus próprios perfis e assim, melhor desenvolvê-los. E, ao versar sobre estilos de liderança, o estudo contribui em avançar nas discussões dessa temática dentro da literatura de estudos organizacionais.
