In this paper we investigate the coherence properties of a quantum dot under two-photon resonant excitation in combination with an additional photo-neutralization laser. The photo-neutralization increases the efficiency of the excitation process and thus, the brightness of the source, by a factor of approximately 1.5 for biexciton-exciton pairs. This enhancement does not degrade the relevant coherences in the system; neither the single photon coherence time, nor the coherence of the excitation process.
We report the observation of three-dimensional spiraling collision of interacting two-dimensional spatial solitons. The solitons are photorefractive screening solitons and are phase incoherent to each other at all times. The collision provides the solitons with angular momentum which is manifested in a centrifugal repulsion force. When it is balanced by attraction, the solitons spiral about each other in a DNA-like structure. [S0031-9007(97)
The electric-field-induced evolution of the recently discovered periodic 180 degree nanostripe domain structure is predicted in epitaxial Pb(Zr0.5Ti0.5)O3 ultrathin films from first principles. This evolution involves (1) the lateral growth of majority dipole domains at the expense of minority domains with the overall stripe periodicity remaining unchanged, (2) the creation of surface-avoiding nanobubbles, and (3) the formation of a single monodomain state. Analogies and differences (i) with ferroelectric thin films made of BaTiO3 and (ii) with ferromagnetic thin films under magnetic field are discussed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
