Esta tesis de maestría, cuyo producto es un trabajo periodístico de investigación, pretende mostrar esa necesidad de acercamiento entre el periodismo y las temáticas relacionadas a los derechos humanos para su difusión y posicionamiento en la memoria colectiva; así como el uso atractivo de los géneros periodísticos para su masificación e incorporación en el imaginario social. Aquí abordamos en un relato periodístico escrito con las técnicas del Nuevo Periodismo, tomando como antecedentes fundamentales las obras de Rodolfo Walsh <i>Operación Masacre</i> (2011) y <i>¿Quién Mató a Rosendo?</i> (2011), la investigación de la desaparición forzada del militante del partido venezolano Bandera Roja Noel Rodríguez (29 de junio de 1973), ocurrida durante el primer gobierno del derechista socialcristiano Rafael Caldera (1969-1974); un caso que se tornó emblemático en el país por varias razones: porque en ese período presidencial sólo se conocieron públicamente las desapariciones forzadas de dos personas por razones políticas, la de Noel y la del estudiante universitario Luis Hernández; porque Noel desaparece en un gobierno que presenta a la izquierda insurgente un plan de "pacificación"; porque Noel fue el primer desaparecido entre las décadas del sesenta y noventa en el país hallado en el contexto de un nuevo Estado abocado a la protección de los derechos humanos y obligado a investigar toda violación a estas garantías consagradas en la Constitución y en los Pactos Internacionales.
