Cet article repose sur deux manifestations scientifiques ayant eu lieu en 2018 : une communication pour un colloque universitaire, et une conférence menée dans le cadre de l’éducation populaire. Les deux ont pris pour objet la langue et les rapports de pouvoir dans la langue, et les ont exprimés à travers la métaphore du combat et de la lutte. On verra dans cet article comment le recours à cette métaphore permet de questionner les enjeux autour de la validité scientifique, en créant un espace de « tiers-construit » qui rend possible la réflexion. Ces enjeux seront ensuite analysés à travers les concepts d’éthos et de performance : les contextes de ces deux manifestations amènent à créer des expériences de communication scientifique qui se traduisent par des postures, des mises en scène, des rôles. L’objectif est d’interroger les possibles en termes de recherche, comme action ou transmission.
