Bu çalışmanın amacı, riskten korunma muhasebesini uygulamayı tercih eden mevduat bankalarının yıllara göre riskten korunmak amaçlı türev ürün kullanım oranlarındaki değişimin ve riskten korunmada beklenen etkinlik düzeyinin tespit edilmesidir. Çalışmanın Türkiye'de faaliyet gösteren mevduat bankalarının 2014-2018 yılları arasındaki konsolide finansal tabloları bağımsız denetçi raporlarının incelendiği araştırma bölümünde etkinlik ölçümü için rasyo analizi tekniğinden yararlanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular sonucunda yıllara göre kur ve faiz düzeylerinde yaşanan dalgalanmaların riskten korunma amaçlı türev ürün kullanımını etkilediği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Etkinlik testi sonucuna göre ise, istenen etkinlik düzeyi içinde bulunmada en başarılı mevduat bankalarının Akbank T.A.Ş.,QNB Finansbank A.Ş. ve Türkiye İş Bankası A.Ş. olduğu ve Türkiye Garanti Bankası A.Ş.'nin aynı başarıyı gösteremediği tespit edilmiştir.
Bu çalışmada; ihtiyaçlar göz önünde bulundurularak hazırlanılmış olan Hesap Planı Taslağı'nın özelliklerinin, farklılıklarının, sağlaması beklenen faydaların ve eksik görülen yönlerinin Türkiye Muhasebe Standartları ve Büyük ve Orta Ölçekli İşletmeler için Standart Setleri açısından tartışılması amaçlanmaktadır. Yapılan değerlendirme doğrultusunda yeni hesap planında hesap sınıfları ve hesaplar bazında eklemeler yapıldığı görülmüştür. Yeni hesap planının Türkiye'deki muhasebe alt kültürü ile uyumlu olması, TFRS ve BOBİ FRS setlerinin muhasebe sürecine yönelik uygulama kolaylığı sağlatacak tekdüze yapısı beklenen faydaları iken; yeni hesap planının TFRS 2 Hisse Bazlı Ödemeler ve TFRS 16 Kiralamalar gibi bazı muhasebe standartları için uygun hesapları içermemesi ve hesap ayrıntılarının arttırılmış olması ise eksik yönleri olarak değerlendirilmiştir.
