Se reflexiona en torno a la relevancia de la identidad nacional como ruta metodológica adecuada para la construcción de sociedades justas, pacíficas e inclusivas propuesta por la Agenda 2030 en su objetivo dieciséis. La paz, justicia e inclusión constituyen valores cardinales que asumen una dimensión más intersubjetiva que jurídica. Su concreción podría lograrse de forma sostenida desde una perspectiva esencialmente intersubjetiva a través de la cual la identidad nacional en cuanto identidad colectiva puede asumirse como canal expedito. Se hace un breve estado de la cuestión del objetivo dieciséis de la Agenda para resaltar su relevancia particular e identificar la contribución de la identidad nacional como ruta metodológica eficiente para su realización. Luego, se establece un acercamiento eórico-conceptual de la identidad nacional para recalcar la fuerza del sentimiento que genera a partir de dos modelos de nación, y enfatizar su valor para la construcción de sociedades justas, pacíficas e inclusivas.
Se hace un análisis retrospectivo a la rebelión armada acontecida en Costa de Marfil entre 2002 y 2011 como uno de los movimientos sociales insurreccionales más importantes de África occidental de la primera década del siglo xxi. Se parte de que el necolonialismo francés incidió en dicho movimiento social, a través de la cooptación para afianzar su influencia regional, amenazada por las acciones del gobierno de turno en Costa de Marfil. A partir de una perspectiva analítico-sintética, sustentada en puntos críticos que resaltan para la discusión, se concluye que, a pesar de anclar su reivindicación en la crisis identitaria marfileña, el movimiento social en cuestión se desvió de su pretensión de cambio social identitario por el interés por el poder político, por haber sido cooptado para asegurar intereses externos para los cuales, el problema marfileño agudizado, fue mal gestionado y resuelto.
Japón es uno de los oferentes de cooperación para el desarrollo más tradicionales y constantes en la comunidad internacional. Si bien el sudeste asiático ha sido el principal destino de su asistencia, coopera con África desde 1960 considerando su precario desarrollo e importancia internacional. La Conferencia Internacional de Tokio sobre el Desarrollo Africano, es la plataforma a través de la cual se promueven proyectos de desarrollo para África. En este trabajo se analiza la evolución de la cooperación japonesa en la región, matizando sus intereses a través de dos proyectos que los evidencian, sin soslayar el impacto positivo que tienen en el desarrollo africano en el marco de un modelo de “cooperación integral para el desarrollo” el cual vincula asistencia oficial para el desarrollo, inversión privada y asistencia humanitaria.
Este artículo analiza la realidad de la construcción identitaria en África a partir de algunas de las contribuciones de los estudios de identidad. Se sostiene que la identidad africana ha sido influida por el colonialismo europeo, mismo que impuso cambios estructurales y funcionales profundos en dicho continente en lo político, social, ideológico y cultural. En su estructura central, el trabajo discute algunas de las contribuciones sobre la identidad, entre ellas, las de Geertz, Barth y Giménez y, a la luz de estas aportaciones, analiza de forma diacrónica la construcción identitaria en África.
