This chapter focuses on the use of journaling in the visual art education classroom. The introduction seeks to clarify the definition of the journal and trace the recent history of its use in common culture. The body of the writing describes the use of journals in education, specifically in the visual arts classroom. Finally, the chapter offers suggestions as to how journals could improve the assessment of visual arts learning in the near future.
