Dünyada hızla büyüyen endüstrilerden biri olan turizm tüm ülkeler için önemli hale gelmiştir. Bununla birlikte küreselleşme süreciyle beraber gelişmekte olan ülkelerde doğrudan yabancı yatırım girişleri de artmıştır. Bu kapsamda özellikle gelişmekte olan ülkelerde turizm endüstrisinin gelişimi için gerekli olan sermaye ve altyapının iyileştirilmesinde doğrudan yabancı yatırımlar önemli bir rol oynayabilmektedir. Turizmin gelişmesiyle birlikte birçok sektör için artan talep, çok uluslu şirketleri yatırım yapma konusunda teşvik etmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı doğrudan yabancı yatırımlar ve gelen turist sayısı arasındaki nedensel ilişkiyi Türkiye örnekleminde incelemektir. Bu kapsamda değişkenler 2005:1-2019:4 dönemine ait veriler kullanılarak Granger nedensellik ve Johansen eşbütünleşme yöntemleriyle analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda değişkenler arasında eşbütünleşme ilişkisinin olduğu bulgusuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca gelen turist sayısından doğrudan yabancı yatırımlara doğru tek yönlü nedensellik ilişkisi de tespit edilmiştir.
ÖzUlusal ekonomilerin dışa açık bir uluslararası ticaret politikası benimsemesinin iktisadi büyümelerine olumlu yönde katkıda bulunacağı hipotezi literatürde uzun yıllardır tartışılmakta ve büyük ölçüde kabul görmektedir. Bu bağlamda Meksika, Endonezya, Güney Kore ve Türkiye'den oluşan MIST ülkeleri ele alınmış, her bir ülke için zaman serisi yöntemlerinden Johansen eşbütünleşme ve Toda-Yamamoto nedensellik analizleri uygulanarak dış ticaret ile büyüme arasındaki ilişki incelenmiştir. Ampirik bulgulara göre geliri d ış ticaretten en çok etkilenen ülke Meksika'dır. Bununla birlikte Meksika, Endonezya ve Türkiye için dış ticarete dayalı büyüme hipotezi geçerlidir.
ÖZ Ülkelerde yaratmış olduğu istihdam ve döviz girdisi ile turizm iktisadi büyüme ve refah artışına sebep olan en önemli faktörlerden birisidir. Ekonomik özgürlük kavramı ise iktisadi literatürde uzun süredir tartışılmasına rağmen, bir endeks ile ifade edilmesi ancak 1970'ten beri mümkün olmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı ekonomik özgürlük ve turizm arasındaki ilişki 1996-2017 dönemi için 32 OECD ülkesi kapsamında Panel veri Vektör Otoregresif Model tekniği kullanılarak analiz etmektir. Çalışmada Panel Granger nedensellik sonuçlarına göre ekonomik özgürlük ve uluslararası ziyaretçi sayısı arasında çift yönlü nedensellik ilişkisi tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmada elde edilen bir diğer sonuç uluslararası ziyaretçiler serisi için 10 dönem kapsamında hesaplanan öngörü hata varyansı değerlerine göre on dönem gibi uzun bir dönemde uluslararası ziyaretçi sayısındaki değişimin yaklaşık %30'u doğrudan OECD ülkelerinin ekonomik özgürlüklerinden kaynaklandığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Analiz sonuçlarında elde edilen bulgulara göre uzun dönemde ekonomik özgürlüğün bir ülkeyi ziyaret eden yabancı turist sayısı üzerinde önemli bir etkisi vardır.
Özellikle gelişmekte olan ülkeler için önemli bir döviz kaynağı olarak kabul edilen turizm, birçok sektörle olan bağlantılarından dolayı da ülke ekonomileri için önem arz etmektedir. Bu çalışmada dünyada en çok turist çeken on ülkede 2002-2018 dönemi için politik istikrarsızlık ve terörizmin, turizm üzerindeki etkisi panel veri analizi ile incelenmiştir. Çalışmada kullanılan modelde, turizm bağımlı değişken olarak belirlenmiş ve turizm, gelen turist sayısı ile temsil edilmiştir. Ayrıca büyümeyi temsilen GSYİH, kontrol değişkeni olarak modele dahil edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda bağımlı değişken ile bağımsız değişkenler arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ampirik bulgulara ulaşılmıştır. Çalışmada elde edilen bulgulara göre politik istikrar artıp, terör ve şiddet olayları azaldıkça, gelen turist sayısının arttığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
