has been used widely in research and clinical settings to assess adult depression, yet its reliability has not been determined for persons over 60. This study reports three reliability coefficients using samples of elderly community volunteers and depressed outpatients. All three indexes were reasonably high in the total sample and fall within the accepted range of reliability for a clinical screening instrument. As expected, internal consistency was lower when determined for the two separate samples.
