El presente artículo ofrece una revisión detallada de los personajes antropomorfos “emplumados” pintados de los sitios arqueológicos San Salvador-1 (región de Antofagasta) y Quebrada La Chichilla (región de Atacama), junto a su comparación con expresiones rupestres trasandinas y aquellas de la alfarería incaica. Desde la perspectiva del embodiment y el uso del color, se discute cómo la ejecución y repetición de ciertos elementos de vestimenta contribuyen a incorporar una nueva forma de ser en el mundo, la incaica, cerca del año 1400 d.C.
