A pandemia de COVID-19 representou um desafio à população e aos profissionais da saúde na tentativa de sobrevivência e superação dos danos físicos e psíquicos da doença. Com o objetivo de compreender como ocorreu a atenção de gestantes na Atenção Primária à Saúde (APS) no contexto da pandemia de COVID-19, foi realizada uma pesquisa em Anguera, cidade do interior da Bahia, Brasil. Estudo de abordagem qualitativa, exploratória e descritiva. A coleta de dados foi realizada em maio de 2022 e contemplou a realização de entrevistas semiestruturadas, pela plataforma virtual Google Meet. Três enfermeiras e um médico que realizaram o pré-natal na APS da zona urbana do município estudado foram entrevistados (n=4). A opção por estes participantes se justificou por representarem os profissionais responsáveis pelo cuidado à mulher no ciclo gravídico-puerperal e, portanto, necessitaram promover adaptações para garantia da continuidade do programa. A pesquisa foi aprovada pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa (CEP) da Universidade Estadual de Feira de Santana (UEFS). As entrevistas foram gravadas, transcritas e interpretadas pela análise de conteúdo. Os resultados da pesquisa demonstram que alterações nos processos de trabalho buscaram garantir a continuidade da assistência às gestantes, entre elas o espaçamento das consultas e o atendimento virtual. Mesmo com essas medidas, houve a descontinuidade do atendimento decorrente do medo pela contaminação, tanto dos profissionais quantos das gestantes. Essas adaptações do serviço e do processo de trabalho culminaram com a sobrecarga dos enfermeiros e médicos para assegurar uma gestação saudável. Recomenda-se, aos gestores municipais, o investimento em Políticas de Educação Permanente em Saúde, a fim de capacitar os profissionais em situações de emergência sanitária, bem como estudos continuados no que se refere à reorganização da APS a partir do contexto pandêmico e à qualidade da atenção à saúde prestada pelos profissionais que realizam o cuidado pré-natal.
