Objective: Knowing the profile of elderly participants from promotion groups to health. Methodology: It is a transversal study, the type exploratory-descriptive, with approach quantitative. The sample was constituted by 75 elderly of both sexes. Results: The results evidenced that 82.9% were female, with age range between 60-65 years (40.8%), illiterate (40.8%) and married (46.1%). As to data clinical, 73.7% presented some health problem, highlighting-whether maternal hypertension (55.3%). In relation to life habits, 73.7% affirmed practicing physical activity, 81.6% not ingest alcoholic drinks and 55.3% are former smokers. In which refers to participation in the group, 55.3% joined in search of improvements to health, 35.5% considers the group as a important space teaching-learning and 96.1% reported improvements in health, underscoring increase in selfesteem / will to live with 84.2%. Conclusion: He realized-if the how beneficial is the participation of elderly in groups, which leads us to reflect about the importance in understanding the particular aging process of each individual, to develop interventions that matches the population's expectations. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo transversal, do tipo exploratório-descritivo, com abordagem quantitativa. A amostra foi constituída por 75 idosos de ambos os sexos. Resultados: Os resultados evidenciaram que 82,9% eram do sexo feminino, com faixa etária entre 60 a 65 anos (40,8%), analfabetos (40,8%) e casados (46,1%). Quanto aos dados clínicos, 73,7% apresentavam algum problema de saúde, destacando-se a hipertensão arterial (55,3%). Em relação aos hábitos de vida, 73,7% afirmou praticar atividade física, 81,6% não ingerem bebidas alcoólicas e 55,3% são ex-tabagistas. No que se refere à participação no grupo, 55,3% ingressou em busca de melhorias para saúde, 35,5% considera o grupo como um espaço importante de ensino-aprendizagem e 96,1% relataram melhorias na saúde, ressaltando aumento na autoestima/vontade de viver com 84,2%. Conclusão: Percebeuse o quão benéfico é a participação do idoso em grupos, o que leva-nos a refletir sobre a importância em compreender o particular processo de envelhecimento de cada indivíduo, para desenvolver intervenções que corresponda às expectativas da população.
